Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 August 2026
Lala ("the app", "we") is a singing practice app. This policy explains what information the app handles and how. The short version: your voice is processed on your device, your recordings never leave your phone, and we only store what's needed to sync your practice history if you choose to create an account.
Microphone and your voice
Lala uses the microphone to detect the pitch of your voice in real time. This analysis happens entirely on your device. Audio recordings of your takes are saved only on your device, so you can play them back and hear your progress. They are never uploaded to our servers. Deleting the app deletes them.
Information we store
- Without an account: nothing leaves your device. Practice history, streaks, vocal range and settings are stored locally.
- With an account (optional): if you sign in, we store your email address and sync your practice results (exercise or song, score, stars, date, and the per-note detail behind the score) and your vocal range to our backend, so they survive a new phone.
- Two settings, with an account: whether you have a daily reminder on and at what time, and which of the three goals you picked when you started. These let us tell whether the reminders are any use, which we otherwise have no way of knowing.
- Four events, with an account, and only if you leave “Help improve Lala” on: when you open the app, when you open a reminder, and when you turn reminders on or off. Each one is a timestamp and nothing else — no screen names, no device identifiers, no location. You can turn this off in Settings and nothing else changes.
- Crash reports, with or without an account, unless you turn them off: if the app crashes, a report of what went wrong is sent to Sentry so we can fix it — the error, where in our code it happened, and the device model and iOS version. Never a recording, never your voice, and never anything you have sung. This one is on by default, because a crash report that has to be switched on first arrives from nobody. Settings, then Send crash reports, turns it off.
That is the full list. If we ever want to record something not on it, this page changes first.
What we don't do
- No advertising, and no data is sold or shared for advertising.
- No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. The four events above are recorded in our own database and are not shared with anyone. Sentry is the one third-party SDK in the app; it sees crashes and nothing else.
- No profiling, no advertising identifiers, and nothing that follows you between apps.
- No contact-list, location, camera or photo access.
Service providers
Account data is stored with Supabase (hosted in the EU, Ireland region), which acts as our data processor. Sign-in emails are delivered through Supabase's email service.
Crash reports go to Sentry, which acts as our data processor for that and nothing else. They are the only two.
Your rights
You can sign out at any time, which stops all syncing. You can delete your account and everything synced with it from inside the app — Settings, then Delete account — which erases it immediately rather than on a promise; or contact us at the address below and we will do it within 30 days. Local data can be removed by deleting the app.
Children
Lala is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we'll update this page and the date above.
